Anterior Cervical Arthroplasty or Disc Replacement

Anterior Cervical Disc Replacement is a procedure as an alternative to a fusion in the absence of certain criteria. The approach is done from the front of the neck under general anesthesia. The intervertebral disc(s) are removed following which the spinal cord is decompressed, the nerves decompressed, the artificial disc(s) inserted, and the procedure completed. The patient is typically discharged the same day or the next.
